SkewT LogP: The Best Kept Secret for Aviation Weather

Do you need to know cloud tops and bases along a planned route? Freezing levels? Winds?

The SkewT LogP diagram is one of the best tools in aviation for learning this practical information at points along a desired flight route.

Useful for both VFR and IFR flight planning and go/no go decision making, this tool provides a vertical profile of the atmosphere with high reliability for current conditions and an 18-hour forecast. While more weather information can be learned from the SkewT LogP diagram, this seminar will focus on the basics for reading clouds, temperature and winds.

About our speaker:

Dave Kramer MD, an ophthalmologist for over 30 years, is an instrument rated, tailwheel, complex and high performance endorsed commercial SEL pilot as well as a basic and instrument ground instructor with an interest in weather. He has been flying since 2012, has over 1000 hours of which over 400 have been in the IFR system. He also enjoys long cross country flying, night flying and flying in the LA area.

5:30 pm Gathering and social time, 6 pm Dinner ($15 members, $20 non-members), 6:45 SCAPA business meeting, 7:00 Presentation.

At the Wings of History Museum: 12777 Murphy Ave., San Martin, CA.
