Tuesday, 06/11/19 Dinner Meeting: "Emergency IFR skills for VFR pilots"
Written by Jim Petersen
Wednesday, 29 May 2019
We are honored to welcome back CFI Gene Hudson (CFI, CFII, MEI) as our June 11, 2019 SCAPA Speaker, on the topic:

You have 178 Seconds: Emergency IFR skills for VFR pilots

Every year, 40% of fatal light aircraft accidents happen as a result of continued VFR flight into Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). Research (Stonecipher, 1954) indicates that the average non-instrument rated pilot will lose control of his or her aircraft in just 178 seconds after encountering instrument conditions. While prevention is always the best cure, ever pilot needs to be prepared for the accidental encounter with instrument conditions. In this seminar, Gene will present an alternative method system for scanning the flight instruments and flying the aircraft.
