Join us! Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Wings of History Museum.

Many of us have probably had the thought: I can fly a plane…how hard can it be to sail a boat? How much of what I know and do as a pilot is transferable to sailing?

These and other questions will be explored this evening as our speaker presents these essentials:

* The physics of sailing

* The sailing environment

* Steering with ropes

* Preparing for a cruise

* Underway

* Anchoring & docking stories

Our speaker: Norm Trondsen has been sailing San Francisco Bay and West Coast waters for more than 40 years. His log book also includes 20 international bareboat charters including the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Tahiti, Tonga, New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef, and Desolation Sound. He and his wife, Ellie, sail their Catalina 445 from its berth in Alameda.
