SCAPA Announces Three $1,200 Scholarships for 2017 PDF Print E-mail

UPDATE: Eligibility rules have been updated to now include students residing in Monterey County in addition to Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County, and San Benito County -- all in California.

The South County Airport Pilots Association (SCAPA) will award three $1200 Scholarships to students of aviation. All Applications must be received by May 2, 2017.

The scholarship winners will be announced on or before May 8, 2017.

Eligibility Requirements:

* Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a legal US resident, 16 years of age or older and a resident of Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz, or Monterey county.

* Eligible candidates must be currently working on flight ratings and/or be enrolled in an academic flight-training or aviation maintenance program.

* Previous qualifying scholarship applicants who were not selected in previous years are encouraged to apply.

All applicants must submit a completed application by May 2, 2017. The application must include the following details:

* A completed application form.

* A one or two page typed letter describing the applicant’s background, activities in school, work, and community, activities and experiences related to aviation, life goals, and how receiving thisscholarship would help your future in aviation.

* References are helpful but are not mandatory.

* Any other materials that the applicant feels are pertinent to the application may be included.

Winners will be notified on or before May 8, 2017. Awards and scholarships will be presented at the SCAPA awards dinner on May 9, 2017.Selection Process: The winners will be selected by the members of the South County Pilots Association Board of Directors, as well as prominent members of the community, based on the following criteria: motivation, achievement, and financial need. All materials submitted become the property of the South County Airport Pilots Association and will not be returned. The selection committee decision will be final.
