In attendance: County: Eric Peterson (Director of County Airports), E16 Users: Paul Marshall (SCAPA Director, SCAPA DART Co-Chair, CalPilots DART Program Manager), Andy Simmons (San Jose Sky Diving Owner), Dan Petroff (Wings of History President, SCAPA member), Walt Gyger (Tradewinds Aviation President and KRHV CAAPSO President), Gene Kindred (SCAPA Director and Wings of History), Mark van Wyk (SCAPA Director and Treasurer), Gary Robinson (Owner Magnum Aviation, SCAPA Member), Stan Faulwetter (SCAPA Member, 111th Aerial Photography Squadron), Steve Lamb(SCAPA Member, Magnum Aviation General Manager), Rod Pharis (SCAPA Director, DART Co-Chair), Jerry Bennett (SCAPA member, former Director of County Airports), Rick Nelson (SCAPA Member).

Paul Marshall called the meeting to order, summarized ongoing action with the Airport Enterprise Fund Business Plan Update and took notes. Eric Peterson provided an update on County airports affairs and took questions.

The following is the latest announcement from Airports Director Eric Peterson. This one is dated 11/02/17.

Good news everybody. We are now scheduled for runway paving work at San Martin Airport this coming Tuesday November 7th. Expect the runway to be closed for that entire day while the contractor perform much needed paving repairs. As in the past however, please understand that we are at the mercy of the weather, and this date, like the others, is subject to change.

Potholes Fixed, Thanks to Frank Giancola

The horrific potholes at the north gate entrance to E16 have been finally FIXED, thanks to Airport Maintenance Worker Don Murphy, and especially thanks to SCAPA Super Man Frank Giancola, who once again has donated his superior construction expertise to help make San Martin Airport a better place.

San Martin Lions Donate to DART

The Lions Club of San Martin showed its support for the local community and disaster preparedness when the club donated funds to the South County Airport Pilots Association Disaster Airlift Response Team (SCAPA DART), a local charity dedicated to philanthropy.

It's almost unimaginable that I'm sinking, but the rush of water into the cockpit is indisputable. In seconds, it boils up over my waist, and the surface slants at a crazy angle as the fuselage rolls. If the jarring impact wasn't disorienting enough, the shock of the cold water completes the job. I suck in my last breath of air, take stock of the situation, and fight down the swell of fright that rises up from my gut.

• Gene Kindred on a gear-up landing in his Mooney.

• Mike Parks on a 747 engine failure on takeoff and the investigation that followed.
